DUTIES
The incumbent performs a variety of duties assigned by management. Duties include appraisal reviews for residential, agricultural, forestland and commercial properties. Conduct property reviews, discoveries, data research, field appraisals, and inspections to determine final valuation of properties. Analyze, assess, and classify land uses for all property types. Assist with specification, calibration, and benchmarking of models, sales comparisons, and property characteristics. Support ongoing program operations and activities. Respond to taxpayer inquiries and explain appraisal activities. Provide dispute resolution and participate in appeal hearings. The position does not supervise other staff.

Education and Experience
The minimum level needed on the first day of work is
On the job training is available or:
- Two years of post-secondary education in business, accounting, economics, public administration, construction technology, or related field; and
- Four years of job-related experience.
- Preferred work experience includes mass appraisal, property tax appraisal, assessment, auditing, agriculture, forestry, surveying, real estate, or related field.
- Requires Montana certification in residential property appraisal (IAAO 101), agricultural/forestland (AG Certification), and commercial property appraisal (IAAO 102) per ARM 42.18.206-208 and MCA Title 15; within the first year of employment.
- Other combinations of education and experience will be evaluated on an individual basis.
