The first day of filing a Declaration for Nomination/Oath of Candidacy is April 22, 2021 with the last day for filing being June 21, 2021 at 5:00 PM.
Candidates must file a Declaration for Nomination at the Clerk and Recorders office and they must file a
C-1-A with the Commissioner of Political Practices.
The filing fees are as follows:
Mayor for the City of Roundup $79.20
Council Member for Roundup $15.00
There are no filing fees for the Mayor of Melstone or Alderman.
Following are the Qualifications required to serve as Mayor, Council Member or Alderman.
7-4-4401. Qualifications for city council member or alderman. A person is not eligible for the office of city council member unless the person is a resident for a least 60 days preceding the election to office of the ward electing the person or of an area that has been annexed by the city or town and placed in the ward.
7-4-4301. Qualifications for mayor. (1) A person is not eligible for the office of mayor unless the person:
- Is at least 21 years old:
- Has been a resident of the state for at least 3 years; and
- Has been a resident for a least 2 years preceding the election to office of the city or town or an area that has been annexed by the city or town.
(2) The office of mayor of a city or town is considered vacant if the individual elected as mayor ceases to be a resident of the city or town.
