The meeting was called to order at 8:30 by Commissioner Turley. Commissioner Pancratz and Commissioner Goffena were present.
Pledge of Allegiance.
Commissioner Pancratz made the motion to approve the agenda after removing Theresa Doumitt at 9:30. Commissioner Goffena seconded the motion as amended. motion carried.
Commissioner Goffena made the motion to approve the May 3, 2024 minutes as written. Commissioner Pancratz seconded the motion. Motion carried.
No Public Comment.
Commissioner Pancratz made the motion to approve and sign the Federal Aviation Administration Capital Improvement Plan for the Roundup Airport submitted by KLJ Engineering. Commissioner Goffena seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Commissioner Goffena made the motion to sign the Request for FAA Approval of Agreement for Transfer of Entitlements for Powder River County, submitted by KLJ Engineering. Commissioner Pancratz seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Commissioner Pancratz made the motion to sign the Request for FAA Approval of Agreement for Transfer of Entitlements for the City of Poplar and Roosevelt County, submitted by KLJ Engineering. Commissioner Goffena seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Chris with Kirk Electric met with the Commissioners to discuss the electric at the fairgrounds. Mr. Kirk will get a bid ready.
Sheriff Lesnik gave his weekly report to the Commissioners. The Amish horse sale is this weekend at the fairgrounds. They have gotten good reports on the deputy that is at the Academy. Mr. Lesnik was at the coroner training most of the week.
County Attorney Larsen met with the Commissioners.
DES Director Russell and Coordinator Rook gave their weekly report to the Commissioners. They will be picking up the surplus fire trucks next week. They have been compiling the last 10 years records for FEMA. They are completing the Wildfire Protection Plan. The investigation for the fire on Johnny Coal is still under investigation.
CFO Kirk met with the Commissioners to introduce Norma Trent, the new Secretary/Treasurer of the Refuse District. Ms. Kirk has been showing her claims and procedures.
Tracy Sears and Shilee Wingard with the State Floodplain Office Coordinator, Courtney Long our Floodplain Administrator, DES Director Russell and DES Coordinator Rook met with the Commissioners to discuss the FEMA Mitigation and Acquisition. They are working on getting grants for map funding. FEMA has changed the model of ordinances.
Monday May 6, 2024, they went to the Signal Peak Community Foundation meeting. The County was awarded $50,000.00 towards the Wier building but the funds cannot be used towards the purchase of the building.
The Commissioner did claims on Wednesday May 8, 2024. Claims= $72,035.84
Professional Engineer Jim Schilke met with the Commissioner Pancratz on Thursday, May 9, 2024. Mr. Schilke will be giving an unbiased assessment of the Wier Building.
There being no further business Commissioner Pancratz made the motion to adjourn. Commissioner Goffena seconded the motion. Motion carried.
