October 25, 2024 Minutes

The meeting was called to order at 8:30 by Commissioner Turley. Commissioner Pancratz and Commissioner Goffena were present. Deputy County Attorney Krakowka was also present.

Pledge of Allegiance.

Commissioner Pancratz made the motion approve the agenda after adding signing 2 thank you letters to Governor Gianforte and Mickey Zurcher of the Montana Main Street Program for the grant award.  Commissioner Goffena seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

Commissioner Goffena made the motion to approve the minutes from the October 18, 2024 meeting as written. Commissioner Pancratz seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

Commissioner Turley attended the Refuse Board meeting Tuesday October 22, 2024. They have hired 2 part time people. The “man camp” is not set yet, they are waiting for Brewers to get done with a job and clear the spot.

Commissioner Turley met with Montana Landowners Alliance via phone Thursday October 24, 2024 regarding they meeting he attended with the Montana Department of Mines in Butte for funding to explore economic development in Musselshell County which all of the Commissioner support.

Commissioner Turley met with 5 families regarding concerns with development with the Amish community in Dean Creek area.

Commissioner Pancratz made the motion to sign the FY2025 Extension Services Agreement between Montana State University and Musselshell County for the County Agent. Commissioner Goffena seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

Commissioner Goffena made the motion to vote on using $25,000.00 of the C.A.R.E.S. Act funds to help Melstone Pools get a new liner for the pool as discussed in the October 4, 2024 minutes.  Commissioner Pancratz seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

Theresa Doumitt met with the Commissioners via TEAMS with updates for the Wier Building. High Plains Tech did a site visit to start problem solving and may try the Alternate Delivery Method and everyone work together with the design and schedule a meeting with the Commissioners. The Coal Board grant went in Wednesday October 23, 2024.

Deputy County Attorney Krakowka mentioned to the Commissioners that he is having trouble with his phone. They are going to contact Systems to meet and get the issues we are having resolved.

County Agent Cooley gave his weekly report to the Commissioners. Mr. Cooley is going to be sending the Commissioners information on the MaPTCC grant program. It involves anything with sewers, and water and is for underserved areas, so we would qualify. Mr. Cooley is going to try doing a monthly newsletter.

Sheriff Lesnik gave his weekly report to the Commissioners. Jeremy House was also present. They are going to be contracting with Frontier Psychiatry for any inmates that may need help. Mill levy cuts were discussed.

DES director and Coordinator Rook gave their weekly report to the Commissioners. They are going to have a mid-November meeting with Headwaters to try to develop a concept to improve the FEMA area.  There was 1 new address this week and a few burning permits.

Public Comment:

Charles Gettelman was present and asked the Commissioners when the water line to the airport was going to be finished.  The Commissioner told him they are still in the planning stages.

There being no further business Commissioner Pancratz made the motion to adjourn.

Commissioner Goffena seconded the motion. Motion carried.
